Tornillo–Guadalupe is the easternmost and lowest-volume crossing in the El Paso area, located approximately 30 miles southeast of downtown El Paso near the small farming community of Tornillo. It connects to Guadalupe, a municipality in the state of Chihuahua. Practical Tips

  • Tornillo is 35–40 miles southeast of downtown El Paso via I-10 East. Factor 40–50 minutes of driving each way when deciding if the drive is worth shorter wait times.
  • This crossing is best for travelers already in the far east El Paso / Fort Hancock / Sierra Blanca corridor, not for those driving from central El Paso just to avoid waits.
  • The crossing closes at midnight — do not plan late-night crossings here. Use BOTA or Ysleta for overnight crossings.
  • The Guadalupe, Chihuahua side is a small community with limited services. Fill up on gas and food before crossing if heading deeper into Chihuahua.
  • Despite its remote feel, Tornillo is a full port of entry with CBP officers — all standard documentation requirements apply.
